Pitch Identification Gymnastics is a technique taught in Meludia that trains you to isolate the different notes within a single chord.
Goals
Learn to distinguish the two separate notes in a harmonic interval. For this exercise, the intervals to choose from are the perfect octave, perfect 5th, perfect 4th, Major 3rd, and minor 3rd.
Tips for success
When two notes are played together, our brain naturally gravitates towards the higher of the two. Perceiving the lower note sometimes requires additional concentration. To overcome this, focus on the lower note and try to partially forget the higher note.
